The energy sector accounts for 70% of all GHGs globally. The JTF focuses on identifying real-world technical problems that, when solved, can make a significant difference in enabling this transition. Figuring out the technical, operational, financial, and political challenges in transitioning “the grid” — is the primary near-term challenge facing climate change efforts. A vital part of this program – perhaps the key part – is solving technical problems that inhibit a sustainable future for under-served populations.

..we need to invent the future to solve all the hurdles between now and a carbon-neutral future. Hurdles like clean energy generation and distribution in an economical manner. We must leap-frog current technologies/methods to get clean, affordable energy to the millions (hundreds) of millions without any energy today. We need new breakthroughs in energy storage! And the list goes on and on!
Opinion
Last week, I attended the Climate Week/NYC series, a series of 500 events in and around Manhattan. It was a wonderful experience, with brilliant speakers who pushed one to think anew about climate change and how to slow it.
